[Fountain Pen-Friendly Notebook] Banditapple Carnet 4G (2)

Writing Experience

As in part 1, I’ve compared Banditapple Carnet 4G and Midori Traveler’s Notebook.

Banditapple paper is a little bit thoothier than Midori, which provides a tactile sensation.  Drying speed slightly faster on Banditapple.  Neither of the two papers show any feathering. 

You may notice that the ink looks brighter on Midori.  I think part of it has to do with the color of the paper and the extent to which the paper absorbs ink.

I couldn’t find any of the ink I use bleed through any of the two papers. Both show slight ghosting, but it’s not very noticeable.


I smeared Diamine Smoke of the Water on Banditapple Carnet 4G(top) and Midori Traveler's(bottom). 

As mentioned, the ink appears darker on the Banditapple so the color variation is less-pronounced.  If you are a big fan of sheening inks, Midori has the upper hand.















I dropped Jaques Herbin Caroube de Chypre Ink (Carob of Cyprus) ink on Banditapple Carnet 4G(top) and Midori Traveler's(bottom). 

Both papers show shimmer beautifully.


Price & Where to Purchase

Banditapple Carnet 4G Tablet size is available at 4,400 Korean Won (around US$3.5) and Handy size at 4,300 Korean Won(around US$3.38) at Banditapple’s online store.  Compared to Midori, which currently sells for US$6.74 on Amazon US, Banditapple has a huge price advantage.

Sadly, I couldn’t find any distributors outside Korea that currently offer these notebooks. One way to purchase is to contact Arnie directly via e-mail (arnie@banditapple.net).


Takeaways

If you use fountain pens, this is a notebook you should definately try out. If you’re not a fountain pen user, you’ll still be amazed by its classic design, superb quality and affordable price.  Strongly recommended!
